Emotional Support & Therapy
Deep Roots Forest School
Over the last year we have been working closely with Deep Roots, a therapeutic provision that offers outdoor learning experiences to children who may need emotional or pastoral support and guidance. So far we have supported 16 children to attend and we have seen their confidence and self-esteem grow throughout.
The children really love learning about the wilderness, wildlife, making fires and dens.

Family Feedback - Feb 2022
Thank you so much for involving my grand daughter in Forest School, she is absolutely loving it and talks non stop about the things she has been doing during the day.
Pets as Therapy
At St. Luke's, we recognise that sometimes school and home life can be difficult for young people, they may feel levels of anxiety and unease but not always be able to explain why or be able to talk about their feelings. We have trained staff to support our young people with their emotions, for instance, these may include support or time with ELSAs (Emotional Literacy Support Assistants), our Safeguarding Leads, or time in Nurture sessions and or Social Communication groups.
We are also an Attachment Aware School and are here to help those who may find separation and being in school overwhelming.
We have recently stared working with Pets as Therapy and have been welcoming Babs (a therapy dog) into our school on a weekly basis, the children read to Babs and find this time calming and a small way of taking a breath from the busy world around them.
We will be raising funds over the year to support this wonderful charity, read more here.
