Sports & PE at St. Luke's

The PE & Games Curriculum at St. Luke’s creates children with a love for activity, engagement and competition. Our learning approach is underpinned by a culture of respect, sportsmanship and kindness.
Our lessons are planned to engage and include all children in fun and highly active sessions to develop an enjoyment and love for sport, whilst also encouraging a healthy lifestyle that they will carry with them through their lives.
We include regular opportunities for all children to be involved in competitive team and individual sports against their peers, as well as, inclusive physical activities that will enable them to become outstanding team players; building on previous knowledge and expertise. Regular excursions, matches and competitions with and to neighbouring schools broaden the experience for all of our pupils, as they compete within a range of sports.
Through our inclusive approach to sport we offer opportunities for children to challenge and develop their leadership skills through Sports Champion roles, wherein year 6 children deliver and lead physical fun activities during lunchtimes and support the lower years in sporting activities.
At St. Luke’s we also offer swimming lessons, these take place offsite, for children in the years 3 to 6; our children really enjoy these sessions and having the chance to learn such a crucial skill in a fun and safe environment.
Please find attached the PE, Sports and Swimming Rota for the Spring Term.
