Parental Support
At St Luke’s, we seek to work with parents to ensure the best learning occurs for their children. We meet regularly with parents both informally and formally at Open Afternoon school meetings, parent drop-ins and biannual parent’s evening. Teachers may also telephone parents. If a parent wishes to see or speak to the class teacher, then they make an appointment at the office to see or speak to the teacher at a time convenient for both parties. Phase leaders and further members of the senior leadership team are also available if required.
Parents of children with special needs may be provided with specific activities to support their child at home. For example, this could be flash cards or number bonds.
The Deputy Head Teacher and Head Teacher both provide regular drop in meetings too which help parents discuss issues with their child and offer guidance. Parents receive a termly curriculum newsletter so they are aware of topics their child is learning and can also access information via the school website. Parents receive three written reports throughout the year too which document attainment, progress and targets for learning.
Where possible the school offer specific parental guidance in the form of outside agencies holding training sessions.
If you are worried, unsure or require further guidance, please do not hesitate to make an appointment to see your class teacher.
