WYCOMBE WANDERERS MARCH 2018

We had a lovely trip to Adams Park (Wycombe Wanderers Stadium). The children thoroughly enjoyed a tour of the stadium, and had the opportunity to ask lots of questions about the stadium itself and football players.
They all took part in some really interesting activities based on the theme of Resilience and created some fantastic poems. It was a great afternoon!

BADMINTON MARCH 2018

Badminton was a great multi-skill based way to learn the game and was fun for all children involved.
Despite coming in 7th place now 8 more children have had an experience of playing badminton and hopefully we can progress them into the next future stars.

SEAHORSES DANCE FESTIVAL AT MAGNET LEISURE CENTRE MARCH 2018

On Thursday 8th February the children from Seahorses joined the children from other schools across Maidenhead and Windsor in a dance festival.

Our performance captured how sad animals are when the ice caps melt and how it affects their home. We had 13 penguins and 13 ice burgs, all of whom danced beautifully and did St. Luke's proud!

I was especially proud of them all for remembering their moves and behaving so well on the day. Teachers and staff from other schools commented on how wonderful our dance was and the dance instructor for RBWM praised our class for setting an example to other schools.

Well done Seahorses!!!!

BENCHBALL AT FURZE PLATT SCHOOL FEBRUARY 2018

This was a fun morning for Year 4/5 which saw St. Luke's tie in 5th place with Furze Platt, all the children showed great discipline and a hunger to win. They showed key skills such as different ranges of passes, communication and different tactics throughout the games.

The stand out performer was Kacper (Coral class) who not only stood out in my eyes but also for the Altwood Staff and Students who organised the competition- Kacper received a certificate for his exceptional effort in the tournament.

Well Done Kacper!

FOOTBALL AT LOWBROOK SCHOOL FEBRUARY 2018

A tough fixture against a well-disciplined team who liked to pass the ball very quickly, which is what we aim to do, however Lowbrook Academy were just too good for us on a big pitch and a cold afternoon. We played well even though the score line was 3-1 to Lowbrook. Nathan gave a class finish which gave us some hope in the last stages of the game.

We would like to thank Lowbrook Academy for being so welcoming and providing us with snacks at Half Time and Full Time.

ATHLETICS AT NEWLANDS GIRLS SCHOOL FEBRUARY 2018

A great competition which saw both Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 compete at a fast pace over several parts of athletics; Running, Hurdles, Long Jump, Javelin and more. Unfortunately we didn't get the winning result in either year group, however it was a great day for all children involved who had a smile on their faces the whole time and competed to the best of their ability.

TAG RUGBY JANUARY 2018

These games were non-competitive to allow children to participate not just against each other but also against other schools. St. Luke’s came out on top, winning the majority of the games. Mr Browne, Miss Jane and Mr Smith took 3 teams to play Riverside School. We respected all participants and the school, showed great netball skills and correct communication to get the win.

Unfortunately Riverside were the winners at Tag Rugby but nevertheless we will learn from our mistakes and take it into the next fixture. There was some great passing, runs and tries and we followed all the rules correctly which ensured we all had an amazing afternoon of Tag Rugby.

NETBALL TOURNAMENT DECEMBER 2017

A very cold morning didn't stop seventeen Year 3/4 children from working hard, and also showing tremendous skill, courage and belief that they could succeed in what was their first netball competition. Three teams placed 2nd (which is amazing) and two teams in joint 5th out of eight schools.

This is fantastic performance from the St Luke’s team, and they all have some great talent on the netball court. Keep it up!

Miss Jane took six motivated Year 5/6 netball players to Furze Platt to compete in the cold against other local schools. They all played superbly, showing passion and teamwork which is what we motivate them to do in our school and its great to see them carry this into another school.

Despite the cold, each player had a smile on their face, and showed their commitment to the sport and the team, despite the weather conditions.

“On Wednesday 29th November St. Luke’s went to a Hi5 Netball tournament (me and 5 other children).

All of us enjoyed it despite losing four games. Out of the seven games we played, we lost four and won three. However we found it all amazing and entertaining. Subsequently we were proud to come home with 5th place.”

Jack, Year 6

TAG RUGBY AND HOCKEY NOVEMBER 2017

A great start to the term by St Luke's school sports teams. Competing in many different sports; Football, Tag Rugby, Hockey. We have lots to come as well so there will be lots of chances for you to represent the school and show off your talent - Netball and Cross Country.

Tag Rugby - St Luke's 2 Year 3/4 teams and 3 Year 5/6 teams went to Maidenhead Rugby Club to show great spirit, team work and passion to compete against other locals schools within Maidenhead. Winning many games on the day and also losing some to which made us realize that we need to work a lot harder and together as one.

Hockey - On Thursday 9th November, St Luke’s took part in a hockey tournament. Miss Jane took the children to Altwood school for the Get Berkshire Active Winter Games. 16 teams took part and St Luke’s had a great day . Although we didn’t win all the games we had some expert coaching and had a great morning!

FOOTBALL COMPETITION AT RIVERSIDE OCTOBER 2017

An amazing victory for the Year 5/6 football team! They scored 10 goals against Riverside on Thursday 12th October.

The team showed great determination to win the game and also worked together as a team all the way from goalkeeper to striker.

All 12 children who took part in the match played brilliantly with Nathan, Jonathan, Salman scoring most goals for St Luke's.

A great start to the BLUE LEAGUE for our school, Keep It Up!!!
