World Book Day 2022
World Book Day 2022!
This year to celebrate World Book Day, we are going to have the theme of ‘cosy up with a book’. Therefore, we asked children to come into school dressed in their PJs, dressing gown and slippers (or other appropriate footwear). We also asked children to bring in their favourite book to share with their friends.
Over the half term, we set a challenge for families to complete! The challenge is called ‘Story in a Jar’. We asked children to use a clear, clean jar to show a scene from their favourite story. They will then be display in the hall for children to visit throughout the day.
Key Stage One Workshop
On Wednesday 2nd March, the children in year 1 and 2 had the fantastic opportunity to meet Clare Luthor, the author of 'The Little Paws Hotel' series of books. The children were very excited to meet her as they have looked at one of her books, 'Olive', this week. This story is based on a miniature dachshund who is visiting a new place and arrives feeling worried. Oliver then shows the children what she does to manage through the day.
Clare's books are based on talking about big emotions that are part of everyday life. The rhyming books are relatable and well researched; each story helps children to explore their thoughts and feelings, offering them useful ways to think their emotions through and get conversations started.
If you are interested in learning more about the series of books please visit this website https://www.head2heartbooks.com/ You will also be able to purchase some of her books here as well.
