Holy Week at St. Luke's School
During Holy Week, Reverend Sally leads workshop sessions with the ‘Open the Book’ team at St. Luke’s Church for the children to take part in and explore. Every workshop has a clear focus, linked to Holy Week, and the children will be given the time to listen to extracts from the Bible and then discuss the importance of this week to Christians. Following on from this, the children are also given the time to ask Reverend Sally questions they might have about this special week.
Whilst taking part in their workshops, the children will use skills of wonder, craft / creativity, questioning, exploration, and responding and will create different pieces of art work based on what they have learnt. They will have time to think about choices that have been made both in the Bible stories and in their own lives and they will be given the time to reflect on what they have learnt and what it might mean to them.
When the children are in school, they will build upon their learning from their workshop in the Church and will be given the opportunity to share what they have learnt with peers in different year groups or during a whole school assembly.
