School Lunches
Healthy Food Choices
Our school lunches are made on site each day by our chef and her team. To support healthy eating, we make our own sauces, curries, pies, lasagnes, pizzas, cakes and biscuits etc and buy very little ready made food. We work in line with The Eatwell Guide and aim to offer all food groups over the week.
Our numbers for school lunches daily continue to increase, which is great.
Our menu is devised with input from the School Council, pupils and family feedback and is designed to be healthy and balanced with some firm favourites for the children to enjoy. We regularly try new options and also look at any food waste to ensure that we are not serving options that the vast majority do not enjoy.
We recognise that we cannot cater for everyone's tastes and as such, some children and families, may not choose a school meal but we aim to offer food options that the majority of children enjoy.
Family Survey Spring 2023
Thank you to those of you that completed our survey, we had 55 responses. We have looked at the suggestions made and have again spoken with the children. Listening to you we have :
- changed back to a three week menu
- added the All Day Breakfast option back on
- we have added options for a plain jacket potato and butter
- we have added different vegetarian options
- added option to have no sauce
- returned macaroni cheese to the menu to name a few changes.
After reviewing your requests, we must advise that we are unable to a make the following changes but thank you for taking the time to respond. We are unable:
- offer three courses
- offer more than two options each day
- add specific items requested as we know that children have not eaten these in the past
We will continue to work with our School Council and will review the menu again before Easter in line with the children's responses and our food waste.
Please pre-order your child's school dinners weekly in advance on ParentPay (link on home page).
