"The key to success is to keep growing in all areas of life - mental, emotional, spiritual, as well as physical." Julius Erving

At St Luke's Primary School, we prioritise creating a nurturing learning environment where each child is encouraged to develop their full potential. We celebrate and reward their achievements and successes, recognising that every child is unique and deserves respect and support.

We have adopted the Jigsaw approach, which perfectly aligns with our school's values and vision. It plays a vital role in equipping our pupils with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for navigating life in the 21st century. It fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, enabling them to become active and engaged citizens. By instilling a sense of self-worth and confidence, we empower our pupils to pursue their dreams and aspirations.

Jigsaw offers a holistic and child-centred approach that focuses on emotional literacy, social skills, and positive relationships. It covers a wide range of topics, including emotional well-being, relationships, and living in the wider world. By using Jigsaw, we ensure that our pupils receive a well-rounded education that addresses their personal, health, and social needs.

Through the Jigsaw curriculum, we aim to create an inclusive learning environment where each child can explore their thoughts and feelings, develop empathy and understanding, and build resilience. It empowers them to make informed decisions, take responsibility for their actions, and contribute positively to society.

Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE)

"For church schools, RSE is about the emotional, social and physical aspects of growing up, healthy relationships, sex, human sexuality and sexual health. It is also about the spiritual and moral aspects of relationships within a context of a Christian vision for the purpose of life."

(Church of England Education Office Response to a Call for Evidence on RSE Curriculum p1)

At St. Luke’s Church of England School, the Relationships and Sex Education Curriculum, along with the Health Education Curriculum is about respecting and valuing every pupil as an individual.

Our curriculum teaches every pupil to value and respect themselves and others around them; to recognise and celebrate difference and similarities between us all.  Relationships and Sex Education are an intrinsic part of the school curriculum; covered in all areas of the curriculum.
